So this post was going to be something different – “My First Game Night OUT” was the original title. I RSVPed to a game night that is on my route home from work and starts about an hour after my shift ends.
But then I looked at the weather and Fort Lauderdale is set to receive a lot of severe weather. So I said fuck that and changed the post the day before to something that is still the same but not restricting me to actually going. Cause screw going out in severe weather if I don’t have too. (cause I’m writing this a couple hours before actually going for it to publish on Friday).
But still, I am trying to get out and be more social – make some more friends who have the same interests as I do. Which is tough because on all these “meet people” apps like the FRIENDSHIP SECTION of Bumble (in caps so my real life friends don’t freak out) people my age are still all about and going to party and I am absolutely not the party type.
But I think I found some!
The first one is this app called Meetup and its where you can join groups that are of your interests and literally go to meet ups and events with people who are like you too!
Meetup is the site I used to find some fun things that are honestly pretty wicked. I found a meet up that happens every Thursday that is literally on my way home from work and another group that hosts different fun little things.
A lot of groups are public, but some you have to apply to the group and answer some questions to make sure you’re actually into the stuff that the group is about.
Next is this app called Vina and its made for women for women to make friends and meet each other. You can select ‘communities’ aka just interests and filter girls from that so you have a better chance at getting a match.
Vina is kind of like Bumble and Tinder in the way where you have to swipe and buy a subscription if you want to find mutual matches easier. Which obviously is something you wanna do or else you’ll be swiping and waiting forever until you are able to talk to that person you actually want to talk too.
Its worth it if you’re really desperate and need friends because they’ll have a weekly option thats usually not to much and if you cancel it right away you can still use it for the full week.
I haven’t been entirely successful, since I’ve only just started, but these are two apps that I’ve been using and liking so far.
