The Monthly: July 2019

Hello everybody – we’re back with another edition of The Monthly! I’m giving myself a pat on the back with this one cause I can’t believe I have kept up with this.

Anyway, July was nuts! I’ve got so much to say personally and then geek wise, so let’s not waste anymore time and jump right into it.

Personal

Firstly – I HIT 100 FOLLOWERS!! Thank you so much to anyone who’s kept reading and helped me get there – it truly means a lot to me. What’s even more special is that it happened 1 day after Nerd Side of Life’s third birthday! The 100 characters post came out on Tuesday and you can check that out here if you would like.

Speaking of birthdays, I turned 24 on the 19th. So that’s really neat. I demand this meme on my cake next year and all through my mentions. Mark your calendars, you know what to do.

Besides that I’ve really been feeling kind good blog and Youtube wise. For most of July I remembered to upload 3 Youtube videos a week which has me chilling at a rad 82 subs. A goal I have is to get to 100 by the end of the year so if you like me and haven’t subbed, please do! (all i wanna do is change my url, honestly). Blog wise I’ve been remembering to post at least once a week throughout the month – but not pushing myself to write.

As I have stated before, pushing myself gets me nowhere because then I get unmotivated. So I’m really happy with myself on that note.

Fan Culture

Let’s talk fandom. If you’ve read my review on the Lion King, you’ll know I wasn’t overly impressed with it.

However, one movie I did see that I was impressed with was Spiderman: Far From Home. I forgot to write a review on it for some reason, but I LOVED the movie. Tom Holland is a snack and I want more.

Now, let’s move onto the big boy of July; yes friends, I’m talking about San Diego Comic Con. And by SDCC I mean we’re going to screech about Marvel’s Phase 4. And by Phase Four I mean THIS:

Let me tell you – I fell off my chair at work when I saw this finally 100% confirmed. I cried a bit. I was at work when the panel was going on so I had Twitter open on my laptop and refreshed like a maniac the whole time.

Anyways, May 1, 2020 no one better bother me cause I will be at this movie.

Other than that they gave a little more details on the Disney Plus series and announced a few more movies. However they didn’t say anything about Black Panther, GOTG, Spiderman, etc. so people were a little upset about that. But thankfully James Gunn confirmed GOTG3 is happening, he just has to do another project first.

I’m going to send you here to GeekMama to read more about it! She did a real good job at just getting it all out there.

Gaming

Once more I’m pretty much exclusively using this space to promote my own Let’s Play series, which you can find here. I want to expand my channel to more games, but since all I can record is Stardew Valley and the Sims 4, this is what I will have to do.

At some point I’ll invest in a capture card where I’ll be able to record playing Smash, Splatoon, and POKEMON!!! My goal is capture card by Pokemon time. It is also my current goal on Patreon (which I’m thinking of shutting down cause I hardly use it but we’ll see). Long story short: Alyssa need capture card to be able to record more games. Also more money to play games.

So thank you everyone for reading through this – see you next month.
