Why I’m Not a True Gamer

You guys know the drill by now. Inspired by this Daily Inkling. Thank you Matt. Blah blah blah. Eventually I’ll have motivation and inspiration to write a post that isn’t based off an Inkling. But until then, this is what we’re all gonna get.

I’ve been apart of two gaming collaborations thus far in my blogging career – The Games that Define Us, which I totally credit for literally success I’ve achieved thus far, and Tracking Shells which is coming this Thursday. However, there is a reason why you hardly see me speak about games other than the Pokemon post, a first impression of a Nintendo game like Smash, and a lot of Sims.

But other than that, you see nothing. Sure, I get excited about other games that come out for other consoles – i.e KINGDOM HEARTS – but I try to stay out of it because I don’t like to consider myself a gamer.

One Big Update Post

Half of this post is going to be inspired off of this Daily Inkling, (Do I really need to say where it’s from? If you know me, then you know where it’s from already. It’s by Matt. As always.) and the rest of it is an awesome update for Nerd Side of Life. Well, at least it’s awesome for me. I’m going to leave the website stuff up top and the more personal stuff below. (Look at me, trying new things)

First, thank you so much to everybody who has followed me – we’re at 56 followers now. I know it’s not a lot considering I’m buddies with people who have recently celebrated 500+ (go leave Megan some love cause she is that person), but it is a starting point to my goal of 200 by the end of 2019.

For once, this isn’t debuting a new look for the blog. This current theme will be staying for a long, long time. I like the color palette that I have going on right now and the way the theme looks.

However, I did do something I never thought I would do: I made the blog it’s own Instagram.

Social media promoting and remembering to share my posts is something that I am terrible at. I’ve been getting better at sharing it with two Facebook groups that I am apart of, Geek Blogs Unite and Geek Girls x Bloggers. I also share on a Discord server I’m apart of but that pretty much ends my promoting.

Obviously if I want to grow as a blog and get that following that I want (which is 200 by the end of the year – we’re just over 25% of the way there now) I need to remember to promote my blog. I feel like I am getting better at it at least on Facebook, so that’s a good thing.

Another slightly smaller update for website that still excites me is that I officially have an email!

Not like, my own email address. But like, the SITE has one.

So now if for any reason you need to email me things, alyssa@nerdsideoflife.com is the way to go. I had my other website email address in (which is alyssamichellemedia.com btw – it’s a portfolio and it needs updating) but I feel good about now Nerd Side of Life having one of its own.

If you want to read the personal stuff, take a look under the cut!

Higher, Further, Faster: Captain Marvel Review

Hello everyone!! It’s finally here. It’s Marvel’s first female lead film ever finally hitting the big screen – and fittingly enough on International Woman’s Day! Marvel knew what they were doing on that one for sure.

This movie has been highly anticipated and at first received some backlash for being pushed back a whole extra year. But now the day is finally here and we’re about to go in depth with Captain Marvel and I will give you all my thoughts and screams under the cut.

Before proceeding, read my spoiler warning here and proceed with caution.

Sims 4 Strangerville: First Impression

I recommend reading and watching my Let’s Play series, which will be featured on my Youtube channel!

Incase you didn’t know, I love the Sims 4. It was my part in the Normal Happenings Game that Define Us collab, I did a while series on my favorites listed in order, I just LOVE the Sims. I have every single expansion and game and stuff pack that is up for sale.

So when this one came out I already knew I was going to purchase it. It’s more a story mode game which usually isn’t my style, but it looked a little to interesting for me to not play immediately.

Favorite Switch Games

Hey everyone! Yesterday would have been a better day to post this, but since I am a #workingwoman, you’re getting it today. Hey, as long as it goes up, am I right?

It was the Nintendo Switch’s second birthday yesterday! I remember first being skeptical about the console, being like “Why is it so long? Why is it so big? What the fuck is the point of detaching the joy-cons if it’s a handheld console?”

I then got one for myself in August 2018 and ate my words. I love my Switch. So in celebration of my love for my Switch, here are my favorite Switch games!
