A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away…

Welcome to Star Wars Week – where every day this week there will be a new blog post summarizing/reviewing/talking about every single movie in the Skywalker Saga! We are starting with the Phantom Menace and will go all the way through to finally The Rise of Skywalker next Friday. For times sake we are excluding Rogue One and Solo, so I am sorry if you wanted to see those in the line up. If you missed a post in the series fear not, just click on Star Wars under the Geek category and they will all be there for you to see!

We’re onto my favorite Star Wars movie! I rewatched this when Disney+ launched cause I was so excited to watch it after not seeing it for a long time and it just reminded me how much I love it. I can’t pinpoint why I love it exactly – I think the story of this one especially just engrosses me. I mean – Luke Skywalker is Darth Vader’s son for fucks sake! Who the hell expected that?!?

We’re not going to dilly dally today – we’re just gonna jump right into it.

Arguably, this movie is story wise the most important one of them all in this original trilogy. It’s where Luke learns that his dad is actually Darth Vader. Among other things; we meet Lando, Han and Leia start their ‘relationship’, and Han gets frozen in carbonite.

Perhaps another important one is Luke and R2 go find Yoda on Dagobah and Yoda starts to train him in the ways of the force. While Obi Wan was willing to train Luke no problem, Yoda was not as willing and said he was to old, which I expected. If they bitched about Anakin being to old at like what, 10? Also we finally see him lose his hand, which is to be expected. Wonder who’s gonna lose a hand in TROS?

My favorite Star Wars ship is Han and Leia and this movie is where we really see them bud and establish their romance and all their bickering and what their relationship is. Han grows a little more in this movie, seeming to be a little less selfish and a little more open with at least Leia.

Lando in this one pisses me off majorly, for obvious reasons. Thinking of how he is in this one and the next one confuses me as to how they find him in The Rise of Skywalker and what goes on there. Like, he sold them out to Darth Vader saying he didn’t have a choice. Then proceeded to help them? Lando my dude, sort out what you want.

The story in this one engrosses me. I see Han and Leia interacting and learning to at least like and then love each other. Luke becomes a padawan properly and learns the force. We meet Lando. Vader is Luke’s father!! (and Leia’s but she doesn’t know that yet)

The next one is an exciting one too, though! Its the end of this trilogy and we see the adorable little Ewoks throw rocks at some Stormtroopers, the final battle between Luke and Vader, and finally the Emperor himself die (or does he?)

We know he’s not dead. He’s in TROS. But we’ll say he is for the sake of surprise, I guess.

I’ll see you tomorrow for the conclusion of the Original Trilogy!
