Star Wars: The Last Jedi

A long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away…

Welcome to Star Wars Week – where every day this week there will be a new blog post summarizing/reviewing/talking about every single movie in the Skywalker Saga! We are starting with the Phantom Menace and will go all the way through to finally The Rise of Skywalker next Friday. For times sake we are excluding Rogue One and Solo, so I am sorry if you wanted to see those in the line up. If you missed a post in the series fear not, just click on Star Wars under the Geek category and they will all be there for you to see!

We are in the home stretch! On the day this comes out I will be seeing The Rise of Skywalker and tomorrow we conclude this marvelous week with my review/thoughts.

But until then we have one more movie left until we’re caught up and it is The Last Jedi. I know people either love or hate this movie, so I’m going to try to keep this as positive as possible and I would love it if the comments could be the same. If you’re being overly slanderly and mean about the movie or towards Rian Johnson your comment probably just won’t be posted all together.

Anywho, let’s get on with it – I have t-minus 4 hours until the movie. I’m shocked that I actually haven’t reviewed this before.

The movie picks up immediately where The Force Awakens left off. Rey trying to give Luke his lightsaber to train her. And eventually he agrees to it, but not without throwing it first and a lot of convincing. Unfortunately it’s short lived because Luke gives up on Rey once she goes towards the darkness for answers on where she came from.

Meanwhile the Resistance fleet is fleeing the First Order fleet and Poe is doing dumb things and getting demoted. Rose and Finn go on a secret side mission behind the backs of the higher ups in the Resistance to try to blow up the First Order fleet that is able to track them through light speed.

Leia uses what I presume is the Force to get herself back to the fleet after someone from the First Order blew up the bridge of the Fleet. I like to call it Leia Poppins because thats almost what she looks like when she does that. But she wakes up and then gets everyone to Crait to try to get the First Order off their tail. It’s a very unfair fight and all odds are pitted against the Resistance.

We get a lot of conflicted Kylo in this movie. It’s the start of his redemption arc where we see he isn’t all that bad of a person, just someone who’s been manipulated and controlled most of his life by a Sith. Of course in this installment he is still mostly dark but it begins to happen in here.

The final battle between Kylo and Luke is neat. It’s not a big epic moment like between Obi-Wan and Anakin, but it’s neat. Luke projecting himself there was a smart idea that I’m really surprised that he actually thought of, honestly. But it was the perfect distraction for the Resistance to escape.

Anywho, we are at the end! Tomorrow we review The Rise of Skywalker – and that one will have spoilers! I’ll try to make it minimal spoilage for everyone but the warning will be there just in case.

See you tomorrow!
