The Monthly – August 2017

Hi, everybody! It’s been a really crazy month for me – crunch time to get back to school and Boston Comic Con! I apologize that this is slightly late – the date on the post says September 1st but I’m actually finishing this on September 2nd. This monthly will be slightly different than others, there won’t be any sections like normal and I’m just gonna talk. Without further ado -let’s move on!

August was extremely quick. I know I’m pretty sure that I’ve said that every other month but this one was really, really quick. It was my last month at home before starting my senior year of college – which I started at the end of the month. I spent a lot of time this month trying to better myself and my mental being before going back to school. My personal goal this year is to get all A’s for both semesters since I’ve never gotten all A’s in my life. Ever.

What else happened? Boston Comic Con! I’ll just conveniently link you all 4 of my videos from comic con – including the infamous John Barrowman Panel.

Other than that, it was a dull month. Honestly, it was a lot of school packing and prepping for a lot of the month so I didn’t do much. I watched the Defenders, but that’s yet another post that I’m trying to find the motivation to write. It will come eventually!

The Monthly – July 2017

Hi, everybody! Wow – what a month. Lots of changed happened around me this month and lots of good things came out of the month. No spoilers for whats to come in the post – so let’s just skip the chatter and get on with the post!

Life

For starters, my internship fully kicked in! I’ve been learning so much and its been so wonderful. I shadowed an AVID editor for a day and he let me do some things to the edit he was doing, which was so wonderful. I learned so much that day and it was so exciting.

In blog terms – whoa! I switched from WordPress to Blogger! I never really explained why I switched over. To be honest, I don’t even know. Blogger is easier to use by far and they both have their pros and cons. WordPress is unbelievably slow sometimes and Blogger hasn’t let me down yet. Plus, my entire life is basically connected through Google (besides my phone and laptop…. ironically enough) so it was more convenient for me to switch.

I TURNED 22! My birthday was the 19th and I celebrated by drinking wine with my mom and doing math homework. And eating cake. I also treated myself to a MATT SMITH PHOTO PASS FOR BOSTON COMIC CON! That’s what I spent my birthday money on.

I restarted my bullet journal at the end of the month. I started one back in January with a notebook from Target – but this time I have a Moleskine that I adore and I have colored pens and I’ve been keeping up with it. Maybe I’ll make a post about it? Who knows!

Music

PVRIS released a new song called ‘Half’ at the end of the month and OH MY LORD. Listen to it above right now. RIGHT. NOW! Next paycheck I get I’m going to be buying tickets to see them in October and I’m SO. FLIPPIN. EXCITED!

Movies

SPIDERMAN HOMECOMING. If you live under a rock and have no clue what I’m talking about, Tom Holland is basically perfection and basically plays the PERFECT Peter Parker. If you want to read my review about it, go here!

TV

THE DOCTOR IS A WOMAN!!!!! Doctor Who ended unfortunately in July, but we got a female Doctor FINALLY! If you want to read my thoughts about this – go to my post here.

Supernatural announced that they’re bringing back a fan-favorite from SEASON ONE for their 13th season. And KANAS performed at their comic con panel. Watch the video above to experience it!

Other

Not much else – actually. It was a month that FLEW by. I got so busy with editing a movie and my internship and trying to keep myself sane it was difficult for me to actually go out and seek new things.

What did you do in July? Did you accomplish a goal?

The Monthly – June 2017

Hi everyone! Wow, I can’t believe it’s been a month since I’ve started this series! So much has happened in such a short time. Some sections are slightly shorter than others but that’s okay – because some sections are longer than usual because of that. June was a really quick month, it seems like yesterday that I was posting about May on the first of the month.

Life this Month

The month actually started out dismal. My poor kitty, Minnie, passed away the first week of the month. She was 18 years old and I have had her since I was 4 years old. Luckily, in a way, we did not have to put her down. It was just her time. It made things though but the day after I started my internship finally! I’ve learned so much in the month that I’ve been working for them and met so many incredible people. I went on my first professional commercial shoot recently in relation to the internship. We filmed 22 spots in 2 days and I learned so much and got to know the people I work with so much. I had an absolute blast. I bought my Boston Comic Con 3-day pass today (June 30, as I write this) and will be starting a new series on Monday in relation to that!

Television this Month

I haven’t done a whole heck of a lot this month in TV. I’ve been watching Doctor Who every week that its been on. The finale premieres tonight (July 1) and it looks like it’s going to be a doozy. I’ve been watching Big Bang Theory reruns almost daily while they’ve been on TV. Orphan Black’s final season also premiered and I haven’t watched any of it and I’m mad at myself for it.

Movies this Month

WONDER!!! WOMAN!!!! It was basically the only movie I saw this month and I can’t shut up about it. I’m going to see it again on Monday with my roommate and my mom who both haven’t seen it yet and I can’t wait for them to see it. Other than that I’m not really interested in many of the movies that are coming out this year except for a select like, 4 or 5.

Music this Month

No playlist this month, sorry. Not enough came out to interest me but the rest of Halsey’s album, hopeless fountain kingdom, released which excited me because it’s as good as the first three songs. I haven’t been paying attention much to music really. I’m not one to explore types of music really. No one I like is releasing anything for a while.

What to look forward to in July

Its my birthday month! I’m 22 on the 19th and I’m so excited for that! On top of that I’ll be seeing one of my roommates frequently and I’ve got Boston Comic Con prep to look forward to as well.

Introducing: The Monthly – May 2017

In another new and exciting series, I am introducing you to: The Monthly! This is going to be my version of Monthly Favorites that you see on Youtube. The Monthly will include things that I’ve watched from What I Watched Wednesdays that I am going to summarize into one neat post, books I’ve read, products I’ve tried (when I get new products), and just general life things and happiness. Let’s get to it!

Life this Month

Since leaving school I’ve discovered a newfound love for documentaries and alternative punk music. They are all that I have been listening to and watching. I landed a paid internship this summer for a production company as a Production Intern that starts soon. It was something that I heard was competitive – especially for the summertime. That hindered my thoughts and I did not think I would get the internship, but I did and I will be working 3 days a week. I took a small road trip with my roommate to go visit another roommate in Connecticut. We were all going to the same graduation party for another roommate and we had a great time.

Television this Month

Supernatural ended its twelfth season in television and…. oh my god was the finale a good one. Three characters are dead and now with the spawn of Satan walking the Earth, the Winchesters are going to be in for one hell of a season 13. The Flash and Supergirl also ended their third and second seasons on cliffhangers that had me wanting more. I’ve watched 4 episodes of sense8 season 2 on Netflix because that came out and I’ve queued up Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt season 3 for June. I haven’t started anything new this May (yet) but Shadowhunters is on the list of things to start. I also want to get into anime a little bit.

Movies this Month

Guardians! Of! The! Galaxy! The second movie in the Guardians of the Galaxy series came out the first week of the month and crushed the sales record of the first one. It almost crushed the first movie on my list of favorite Marvel movies but there were some things that could have used improvement. Another movie that came out in May was the fifth installment of the Pirates of the Carribean franchise. I talked about it briefly yesterday in What I Watched Wednesday but critic reviews were saying the movie was awful when I didn’t find it that bad. Full review coming Monday! I’ve also watched 3 documentary movies, Mommy Dead and Dearest and Bright Lights: starring Carrie Fisher and Debbie Reynolds (from HBO) and Elizabeth at 90: a family tribute (Netflix) since leaving school.

Music this Month

Check out the Apple Music Playlist here!

While Halsey’s full album comes out in June her first three singles that have come off of it have been FANTASTIC. She has a voice that is so powerful and she is experimenting with different sounds and styles. I was pleasantly surprised by how much I actually liked how she was sounding. Another one that surprised me was Camila Cabello’s debut single Crying in the Club because I never liked her voice in Fifth Harmony but now she’s back and she’s ready to kill it I guess. Harry Styles also surprised me because he went in a totally different direction than what One Direction was and I surprised myself by actually liking Harry’s new album and sound. Check out the full playlist above for everything I loved!
